Information Technology is the use of computers and electronic systems for storing and using information. Computer is a machine that stores information in electronic form. Each computer has a hardware and a software. The hardware covers all tangible parts of a computer such as monitor, screen, mouse, keyboard, webcam, printer, speaker. I use the mouse to move a cursor. Software refers to parts of computer which don’t have a material form, such as programs, data, protocols, document, folder, file, icon, windows, cursor, menu. A computer is a very useful thing and has become basic need of modern people.
We get the information via the Internet for business, learning, social networking, entertainment, shopping and searching for a job, computers are a great tool in helping handicapped people as well. PCs can be purchased as desktop units or as laptops, tablet computers and smart phones. Many people use networking sites such as facebook, Twitter, Skype and they spend a lot of time on them. Computers have pros and cons. There are some advantages of computers such as their use in business, education and home. Computers allow us to gather information fast and easily, make our work more effective, make communication easier, faster and cheaper and make our life easy and comfortable. There are some disadvantages associated with computers, for example computer addiction and health problems, such as damage of eyesight and serious sleeping disorders.
Computers are expensive to buy and they may have viruses. I have a computer and a laptop, but I use the laptop more often because it is small and portable. I do my homework in Word because it is easier than writing on a paper. Nowadays we can find almost everything on the Internet: information useful for school, professional and personal life. I collect information for my homework that way. I spend a lot of time on Facebook. I send messages to friends, comment on my friends‘ walls, photos and links, but I can imagine my life without being on Facebook. I watch films and videos and I often buy things on the Internet.
