The story starts in Shire, the land of hobbits. Bilbo Baggins, an uncle of Frodo Baggins, celebrates his 111th birthday. Everyone enjoy the party. But on end, Bilbo disappears and just Gandalf, a friend of Bilbo, undestands. He keeps some ring in Shire and leaves. Then, Gandalf gives the ring to Frodo. He told him about the important history of it. Frodo finds out, that this ring was forged as exclussive and it denotes a power of Dark Lord. Till these years he hasn´t known, that this Ring has been in Shire. But nowadays, he tries to find it.
Frodo, a small young hobbit, unexperienced, recognizes, that it isn´t a coincidence and he accept this challenge. He and his friends – Samwise, Peregrin Pippin Took, Merry Brandybuck – start to find the way how they can destroy the Ring. During that Gandalf goes to find out some news. Frodo and the others go to dangerous way, the must shelter from Ringwraiths (Nazguls), who look for the Ring. In a village of Bree they met a ranger Aragorn. They don´t know him, but after few days, the recognizes, that he helps them a lot.Frodo himself carries the Ring and he feels the bad power. He also sees and feels, when the servants of Dark Lord are near. Once they meet them and the ringwraiths hurt Frodo. Fortunately, this time they are near to elves and they help the group of Frodo.
Finally, Frodo gets to Rivendell and there he rests. Frodo is healed by Elrond and discovers that Bilbo has been residing there. Frodo´s group follows him. In Rivendell there aren´t just hobbits and elves, but also dwarves. Elrond convenes the Council of Elrond and all this people get together to solve the difficult situation in Middle-earth. The result is to destroy the Ring in Mordor. Frodo receives other companions moreover – a dwarf Gimli, an elf Logolas a man Boromir and Gandalf, who comes back to Council, joins to them also.
They start out. The difficult task is to find the right and the most careful way. The Fellowship attempt to cross the Misty Mountains is foiled by heavy snow, and then they are attacked by a host of Wargs that have moved west of the Mountains to hunt for the Ring. They realised that only possible way is through Moria, the ancienit dwarf kingdom. Suddenly, inside, they are attacked by Balrogh of Morgoth, and ancient demon of fire and shadow. Gandalf challenges the Balrog, but both fall into an abyss. The remaining eight members of Fellowship must go on led by Aragorn. They get into Lothlórien, the elf-haven, where they are given gifts from the rulers Celeborn and Galadriel that in many cases prove useful later during the Quest. They gain strenght here, but not for a long time. They get nearer to Mordor. Also, Boromir prove as a greedy man, he desires for the Ring. Finally, Frodo decides to leave the Fellowship and fulfill it himself. Samwise, his loyal friend joint to him. The other don´t know about their decision and they don´t see them anymore.
