Location
The largest and the most famous spa town in Bohemia is situated in western Czech on the confluence of the rivers Ohře and Teplá.
Foundation, history legend
According to the legend, the spa was existed since 14th century. The legend says that spring “Vřídlo” was discovered by Czech king Charles IV. on the hunting. The spa is named after the Charles IV.
Famous visitors
Many famous people have visited KV. For example Goethe, tsar Peter the Great, Beethoven, Dvořák and another personalities.
Medical treatment
Thermal water is a basis of KV treatment. There are many used therapies. The most used is drinking treatment, oxygen therapy, walking and bath.
Mineral springs
The spa used 15 mineral springs. “Vřídlo” is the hottest spring and it’s a characteristic symbol of KV.
Places of interest
In KV there are churches, gallery, theatre, museum and many colonnades. The most beautiful is “Mlýnskákolonáda”. People also walk to the nature and lookout towers. The best known is “Jelenískok”
Other
The KV is famous for the Moser Glass, Porcelain works and Becherovka liqueur. Popular IFF takes place there every year.
