  • It also shares international borders with Poland and Germany.
  • The capital and largest city is Liberec.
  • The population is about 440,000 people.

  • The region’s landscape includes the Jizera Mountains and part of the Krkonoše Mountains.
  • The highest peak is Kotel.
  • The longest river is the Jizera.
  • The biggest dams are: Josefův Důl, Liberec Dam, Harcov, and Mšeno, which is popular for swimming.
  • There are also waterfalls, such as Mumlava and Černý Potok.
  • Lake Mácha is popular because of the Czech poet Karel Hynek Mácha, who reflected the beauty of this area in his work.
