The United States of America was founded on July 4,1776. A former British colony, it fought the Revolutionary War to earn freedom. Today there are 50 states and a federal district (Washington, D.C.).

 

Geography

The US is bordered by Canada (in the north) and Mexico (in the south). Alaska (the largest state) and Hawaii are separated from the US mainland.
Rocky mountains, Great plains, Appalachian mountains.
Great lakes – Ontario, Huron ,Superior, Michigan, Erie – found at the border with Canada

With an area of more than 9 million square kilometers, the US is the third largest country in the world, and the geography is very varied. The east coast has many cities, like New York City, Boston and the capital, Washington, D.C. The middle of the country is quite flat; this is where most of the farming occurs. The southern half is more tropical in the east and more desert-like in the west. The western half also has many mountains (the Rocky Mountains) and national parks. The longest US river is the Missouri River, followed by the Mississippi River. Climate

The Climate of New York is generally humid continental, and features diverse weather.The New York City metro area, in comparison to the rest of the state, is milder in the winter.
Illinois also experiences large numbers of tornadoes.

People

There are about 300 million people in the US. The country is often called a „melting pot“ because it is made up of so many different ethnic groups. There are five major ones: White, Black, Hispanic, Asian and Native American.

 

Population

The majority of the population of the United States is of European origin.They came from Great Britain, Germany, Ireland.Major racial and national minority groups include blacks (either of US, African, or Caribbean parentage), Chinese, Filipinos, Japanese, Mexicans, and other Spanish-speaking peoples of the Americas.Native Americans generate ( Amerindians—more commonly known as Indians, Eskimos, and Aleuts) 0,9 %.

 

Political system

The United States of America is a federal republic, which consists of fifty states and the District of Columbia.Each state has its own government, laws, customs, education, taxes, traffic regulations. The Bill of Rights-The document guarantees freedom of religion, free speech, free press, the right of citizens to bear arms and so on.USA divided into three branches – legislative, executive and judicial.The supreme law-making body in the country is the Congress. Its seat is in the Capitol in Washington, D. C. It consists of the Senate and the House of Representatives. At the head of the executive power is the President. President is elected by the people for a 4-year term.The Supreme Court is the main instrument of the federal judiciary.It watches the President and congress.

 

Miami

Miami is the largest city in Florida

is a famous national park Everglades with numerous basins.

It’s cold American gates because Miami is a large port and also airport welcoming a lot of tourists every year. It’s a famous bank center, a great deal of banks are concentrated hear.

 

Los Angeles

most populous city in the state of California, and the second most populous in the United States

about 3,7 milionpeople.The entire metropolitan area consists of over 80 separate cities and towns

worldcenter of business, international trade, entertainmentand also the largest center of manufacturing industry in the United States.

 

Economy

Chemical products are the leading manufacturing field.The United States is the third largest producer of oil in the world, as well as its largest importer.It is the world’s number one producer of electrical and nuclear energy, as well as liquid natural gas, sulfur, phosphates, and salt.The United States is the world’s top producer of corn and soybeans.Coca-Cola and McDonald’s are the two most recognized brands in the world.

 

There are a lot of natural attractions in the US, such as:

Yellowstone National Park with its geysers.

in the state of Wyoming, is known for its wildlife and many geothermal features, especially Old Faithful Geyser, one of the most popular features in the park. Native Americans have lived in the Yellowstone region for at least 11 000 years, the Yellowstone Supervolcano. The park is one of the most visited places in the USA but under the surface hides death.

 

The Grand Canyon is a spectacular canyon on the Colorado River.

Everglades National Park
in Florida is a special wetland where you can see many animals including alligators.

Florida’s Everglades National Park is the largest sub-tropical park of its kind and the third largest national park in the United States.

Holds a full quarter of that state’s wetlands within its borders.

The Everglades are home to a large number of endangered creatures, including the American alligator.

 

History

19th century – Civil war between the North and the South (because the Northern and Southern states had a difference economic and political grew)There was a slavery on the South because of gold mines and heavy industry. The North was the winner of the war and the slavery was abolished.

1776 4th July – Declaration of Independence It is a gesture of friendship from France to the U.S. Liberty Enlighening the World is a symbol of welcoming immigrants to the U.S Thomas Jefferson underwritten this.
September 11.2001 – Terrorist attack – twins World trade centers-  completely destroyed – Pentagon in Washington as well
