We go at the doctor regularly for check-up or when there is something wrong.
When we go at the doctor, we have found certain symptoms of a disease. There are for instance, feeling unwell, elevated or high temperature, headache, sickness, cough, cold, sore throat or just feeling tired. In this case, people go and see their general practitioner.
There are often a lot of people in the waiting room. When the patient is called in, the nurse needs have his or her personal details such as name, address and insurance company. The nurse takes from us the charge of thirty crowns. Then the patient is invited into the surgery to see the doctor.
The first question the doctor is, what’s wrong with us. Then we come examination of our body. It is usually necessary to strip to the waist so that doctor listen how the heart and lungs work. The next examination can be measure the blood pressure, find the pulse or tap on abdomen. If he finds out what the problem is he can give the diagnosis. He prescribes us some receipt.
When the diagnosis cannot be given directly, laboratory examination is made and this may include a blood or urine test.
We have to get our medicine in a pharmacy. Medicine comes in different forms such as tablet, pills, suppositories or liquid medicine. Pills are taken twice or three times a day. Liquid medicine is taken orally and suppositories are placed inside the body before sleep.
But if we have some special problems, we have to go to the specialist. The specialists are in the policlinic or private surgery. But if our problems are worse we have to go to the hospital and sometimes we have to undergo an operation.
For example we have some problems with our joins we have to see an orthopaedic specialist. There are also doctor only for woman. They are called gynaecologists and obstetricians. Obstetricians help women at child birth.
