Canada also has high mountain ranges,such as the Rocky mountains and the Mackenzie Mountains. There are about thirty national paks in Canada,one of being Jasper National Park in Alberta.
CLIMATE:
Mostly continental,with warm summers and cold winters. But it is arctic in the north : winter temperatures fall to minus50C.
POLITICAL SYSTEM:
Canada has a parliamentary system within the context of a constitutional monarchy, the monarchy of Canada being the foundation of the executive, legislative, and judicialbranches. The sovereign is Queen Elizabeth II, who also serves as head of state of 15 other Commonwealth countries and each of Canada’s ten provinces. As such, the Queen’s representative, the Governor General of Canada , carries out most of the federal royal duties in Canada.The direct participation of the royal and viceroyal figures in areas of governance is limited. In practice, their use of the executive powers is directed by the Cabinet, a committee of ministers of the Crown responsible to the elected House of Commons and chosen and headed by the Prime Minister of Canada , the head of government.
POPULATION:
The Vikings discovered Canada more than tousand years ago,but it was rediscovered by Europeans only in the 15th century. The French occupied large parts of the territory in the 16th century.They were followed by the English who captured most of Canada from the French in the wars of the 17th,18th and 19th centuries.
Now the population of Canada is more than 26million people. There are also native Canadians-Indians and Inuits (also called Eskimos) – in Canada. Indians probably gave the country its name: one of their tribes used the word „kanata“ for settlement.
Most of the intabitants are concentrated near the border with the USA by the St Lawrence River where the first French coloniests settled.

National day of Canada, a federal statutory holiday celebrating the anniversary of the July 1, 1867, enactment of the British North America Act, 1867 (today called the Constitution Act, 1867), which united three colonies into a single country called Canada within the British Empire. Originally called Dominion Day , the name was changed in 1982, the year the Canada Act was passed. Canada Day observances take place throughout Canada as well as by Canadians internationally.
In many towns and cities, municipal governments organize a range of events, often outdoors. These include pancake breakfasts, parades, concerts, carnivals, festivals, firework displays and citizenship ceremonies for new Canadian citizens. The celebrations often have a patriotic mood. Canada´s economy is traditionally based on natural resources and agriculture. Canada is the world´s second largest exporter of wheat.
Not all territory is suitable for planting corn and vegetables: some areas are even too remote for people to live in. Forest covers 44% of the land area. Coal,oil and gas,silver,gold and other important orea are found in Canada.
The leading industrial provinces is Ontario,accounting for more than half of the total country´s production.Principle products include automobiles,textiles,proccesed foods,electronic,aircraft.. Transportation plays a key role in Canada where distances are great. The east-west Canadian Pacific railway buitl in 1885 and the Canadian National railway. Canada´s major highways in the Trans-Canada route. Vancouver is one of its major ports.
