Hotel facilities
At five star hotels there are normally hotel lobbies, restaurants, breakfast restaurants, bars, coffee shops, hotel kitchens, conference, meeting, lecture and / or seminar rooms, games rooms, garages, parking, lift / elevators and so on ..…There is wheel chair access and disabled facilities in almost all hotels. Fitness equipment is available: often a sauna, a swimming pool a fitness room/ gym, massages, beauty salon and hairdressers are as well. The guests can buy cosmetics or presents at a gift shop, sometimes there is a florist or jewellery shop. Some hotels have roof garden or a terrace.
Hotel room
Hotels are classified by 1 to 5 stars, and the equipment of a hotel room depends on the hotel category. In almost all hotel rooms a telephone, satellite TV with remote control, minibar / fridge, radio, and alarm clock can be found. Hotel-room furniture is usually a bed, a bed side table, a desk with a table lamp, a chair, an end table with armchairs, a wardrobe, a suitcase stand and carpeting. The walls are decorated with pictures and curtains or jalousie/ window blinds hang on the windows. There is always a mirror in the room. Each room has its own toilet and bathroom with bath or shower. There is usually also air conditioning.
There are hotel rooms with a balcony or terrace, with a wonderful view of the city, mountains, sea, ……
Hotel services
One of the hotel services is catering. Accommodation with only breakfast (bed and breakfast), half board or full board can be found. Other services offered to the hotel guests are wake up calls, room service, babysitting or childcare, laundry service, dry cleaning, baggage lockers, … The guests can visit a beauty salon or hairdressers, massages…To the hotel services belong also the exchange bureau and hotel safe. WLAN (wireless local area network)/ Internet access are usually available free in the hotel rooms and hotel lobby. For conferences there may be secretarial services, audio- visual equipment, a fax machine and translation service. Daily newspapers are available. In many hotels are small pets welcomed. There is a porter 24 hours a day.
Outdoor services
Hotels offer various free time activities depending on the location of the hotel. There can be a swimming pool, tennis court, tennis hall, golf course or mini golf, horse riding school, boat hire, bicycle hire, bowling on the hotel complex. Hotels located in the mountains may have their own ski slope and ski lift, sometimes a ski school for children. Some hotels offer hiking/ walking trails, cycle tracks, horse rides, sledge tracks, cross-country skiing tracks or thermal spas in the surrounding area. Spa hotels offer healing procedures. Hotels situated in the city centre organize sightseeing tours, city walks, they provide tickets for theatre performances and concerts. Some hotels cooperate with travel agencies.
Room service
Room service is a service of bringing food and drinks to the room. Room service breakfasts are usually ordered the previous night by phone or by customer order cards which are often hung on their outside door knob. For room service, breakfast is served on a tray placed on the bed or on a trestle.
