History:

  • 43 AD – Londinium was founded by the Romans
  • 61 AD – burned to the ground => surrounded by wall
  • 1665 – plague “Black Death” (about ✝100 000 ppl)
  • 1666 – Great Fire (2/3 of the city burned down –  started at a bakery, destroyed 89 churches including original St. Paul’s Cathedral)
  • 1940/41 – bombed by Germany during World War II
  • 1908, 1948, 2012 – Olympic Games
